A substantial carved shell cameo brooch set in an ornate 8ct yellow gold frame, depicting The Three Graces within a classical mythological scene. The carving shows the three figures in flowing dress, accompanied by further classical detail including a lyre player, seated figure and child, giving the piece far more narrative depth than a standard portrait cameo.

The cameo is large in scale, measuring approximately 75mm by 57mm, with the warm shell ground providing a soft contrast against the raised cream carving. The surrounding gold frame has a delicate open scroll design, finished with small bead details that frame the cameo without overwhelming it.

The piece has strong antique character and presence. There is some slight damage and age related wear visible in the imagery, including surface marks and small areas of wear to the cameo, consistent with age and previous use. These have been photographed clearly and form part of the brooch’s honest antique condition.
