Zenith El Primero Calibre 4002 Movement & Dial
Zenith El Primero Calibre 4002 Movement and Dial
An original 1970s Zenith El Primero Calibre 4002 chronograph movement accompanied by its matching dial, offered as a standalone set. This is one of Zenith’s most celebrated high frequency automatic chronograph calibres, produced during the period when the El Primero was still manufactured entirely in house and before later design revisions.
The dial displays the classic El Primero layout with applied numerals, twin subsidiary registers and date aperture, retaining strong definition and a pleasing period correct tone. The printing remains crisp and well balanced, with no obvious signs of heavy wear, making it an attractive candidate for a restoration project or collector display.
The movement itself presents very well visually, with clean bridges, sharp edges and intact screw heads. Jewels and wheels are bright and evenly seated, and the overall condition suggests careful handling rather than hard use. The automatic rotor is missing, and the original 18ct gold case was scrapped by the original owner, leaving this as a movement and dial only. There is no box or paperwork, and the piece is offered exactly as found.
This is a genuine opportunity to acquire a desirable early El Primero calibre for rebuilding, recasing, or study, particularly appealing to collectors, watchmakers, or enthusiasts familiar with the importance of this movement in chronograph history.
